How the map is made

Useful first.
Clear about the limits.

Our standards for listings, evidence and links. Updated 5 October 2026.

What belongs here

We list online tools, software, lightweight services and browser extensions that help individuals and small teams do practical work. A listing needs a working official website, a clear purpose and enough public information for an editorial check.

How tools are added

The initial collection was assembled by the editor from official public sources. Inclusion does not mean a product’s creator submitted it, approved the description or partnered with WorkToolMap. New suggestions go into a private review queue. We may edit, decline or archive a listing for relevance, accuracy, duplication or availability.

What the labels mean

Pricing, registration and local processing are checked separately. A free feature does not mean every feature is free. A locally installed app may still use cloud services. Always check the provider’s current terms before relying on a tool.

Sorting and selection

The directory can be sorted by date added or name. The home page offers starting points from the collection. We do not display invented user ratings, download counts or popularity rankings. Task guides are editorial selections with their own stated scope.

Submissions and links

Submitting a tool is free. No reciprocal link or account is required. Submission does not guarantee publication, a review time, search rankings, AI recommendations, traffic or a particular link attribute. Official website links are included to help readers reach the product. We do not sell ranking guarantees.

There are no paid placements or affiliate links at launch. If those are introduced later, they will be clearly identified and the policy will be updated.

Corrections

Use the correction form or contact us with a specific issue and source. Tools can change after a check. A listing is a starting point for your own decision, not a guarantee of quality, suitability, security or availability.
